2019 - Espai 13, Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona, ES“La instalación Verni de Lara Fluxà plantea un paisaje compuesto por dos tipos de materiales de cualidades opuestas. Por un lado, la transparencia y fragilidad del vidrio: sólido, claro, limpio, ancestral. Por otro, el aceite de motor usado: un desecho viscoso, turbio, tóxico.
Mientras que el vidrio se asocia al trabajo manual artesano, al oficio y al saber traspasado entre generaciones, el aceite está asociado a la sociedad de consumo, a las tecnologías industriales en que el operario ha perdido el control sobre la totalidad del proceso.
En Verni, estos dos materiales entablan una relación en la que lo fluido estresa y tensiona lo sólido, lo cristalino acoge y contiene lo oscuro, y ambos se imponen mutuamente sus reglas. El aceite enturbia con su viscosidad la transparencia del vidrio; el vidrio, por su parte, actúa como contenedor del aceite en dos sentidos: acogiéndolo y dándole su forma, pero también impidiendo que se expanda y aislándolo del exterior.”

“The Verni installation presents a landscape comprising two types of materials with opposing qualities. On the one hand, the transparency and fragility of glass: solid, clear, clean and ancestral. On the other, used motor oil: a viscous, cloudy, toxic waste product. While glass is associated with artisanal manual labour, craftsmanship and knowledge passed down from generation to generation, oil is associated with the consumer society and industrial technologies in which operators have lost control over the entire process.
These two materials in Verni establish a relationship in which the fluid strains and tenses the solid, clearness receives and contains darkness and both force their rules on one another. The oil clouds the transparency of the glass with its viscosity, while, for its part, the glass acts doubly as a container for the oil: welcoming and shaping it, but also preventing it from expanding and isolating it from the outside.”
